It seems that Qatar winning the hosting rights of the Football World Cup finals in 2022 has already created a repulsive feeling for some in several countries, including Britain and United States, which explains the nagging questioning about Qatar’s capability to organise such a major event.
Some British newspapers that deal with a sense of superiority with everything that is Arab, did not stop their hateful campaign to discredit Qatar’s choice for this event, despite all the investigative commissions that examined these accusations by repeatedly issuing rulings and showing evidence confirming the good standing and commitment that our country has toward making this event a success.
Qatar is capable, not only to organise a championship the size of the World Cup, but to also hold an extraordinary World Cup.
The British newspapers have multiple agenda. Sometimes they claim that workers building the Qatari stadiums are ill-treated and overworked, and at others they say that the summer heat of the Gulf will spoil the World Cup.
However, Qatar responded to these doubts by redoubling its efforts to ensure that workers’ rights are not violated, in addition to the procedures that were already undertaken.
It is interesting that Qatar and its press did not turn the matter into a slanging match in the media in order to avoid public disputes, despite the fact that Europe’s record is full of workers’ tragedies, including the real suffering of people losing their lives in large numbers on board boats along the shores of civilised Europe.
Today, the United States intervenes through its campaign of arresting FIFA officials in the hope of reaching to the point of replacing the nomination of Qatar and Russia with Britain and America. However, it is like the devil dreaming about paradise.
During its meeting with Congress and after the arrest campaign, FIFA blocked any attempt to cancel Qatar’s nomination by categorically emphasising it again.
We say to the left-wing and the far-right British press that Qatar responded to your obnoxious campaigns in a practical and courteous way.
God willing, Qatar will hold one of the most successful World Cups that will be an Islamic, Arab, and humanitarian message emanating from this young state, demonstrating that Arabs are no less than others.
Qatar will be recorded in history as a nation that contributed to human civilisation, showing the whole world that our religion and nation are for human advancement and prosperity, not a religion of terror as the Western press is always trying to portray.
