The unprecedented scientific advances in information and communication fields in the recent decades have brought people across the world closer than ever before making the world a global village.
Today news and information spread like wild fire thanks to the most recent developments in mobile communication and social networking. Now-a-days, any small disturbance in any country is having a ripple effect on other countries whether they are near or far. So world peace means peace in every country.
The State of Qatar is well aware of this fact and hence the state is never late in condemning any act of aggression in any part of the world. Not only that Qatar prides itself in being a peaceful country, but it is also ready to go to any extent to make the region and the world to enjoy peace and stability.
Qatar reiterated its rejection and condemnation of the crimes against the Palestinian people, especially the children, during a dialogue in Geneva with the UN Special Rapporteur on human rights situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, last week.
Since the occupation of Palestine in 1967, the Zionist forces have been exerting every effort to make the life of Palestinian people miserable through brutal military actions, closure of border points, building separatist walls, denying even the right to worship and putting political pressure on the government.
In February, Qatar provided an emergency aid of $9m to Gaza Strip to save the people from deteriorating humanitarian situation and $50m donation to UNRWA, so that it can carry out its responsibilities to Palestinian refugees, particularly in education and health sectors.
It is the responsibility of the international community to find a speedy and permanent solution to the plight of the Palestinian people. The Israeli occupation should put an immediate end to killing the innocent children, arresting and torturing, which constitute a challenge and a flagrant violation of all international human rights conventions and charters. Israel’s continuation of settlement activities in Palestinian territories prove that it is not interested in peace and it insists on continuing its policy of racism, violations and crimes against the Palestinians. The children in Gaza are still subjected to repeated aggression and unjust siege and are deprived of their rights.
The settlements, particularly in East Jerusalem is a crime against the Palestinian people, because it violates the right of the Palestinians to establish an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
It is the responsibility of the International community to bring peace to the Palestinian territories and save the people who have been suffering for more than 70 years for none of their faults. An entire generation of children and youth are being deprived of their basic rights. The world should not turn a blind eye towards the suffering of the Palestinians and if it does so, the future generation will never forgive this crime.
