Hamad International Airport (HIA) has constantly been investing in cutting-edge technology to constantly improve the passenger experience while complying to global security and safety standards.

Keeping to its promise of providing an industry-leading customer service, Qatar’s award-winning airport opened two additional transfer points, bringing the total to four separate transfer areas spread across the north and south nodes of the terminal, reducing walking times to transfer areas for passengers and increasing its overall security screening capacity.

In yet another outstanding achievement, HIA has ensured that at least 95 percent of its transfer passengers queue for under five minutes.

HIA achieved this milestone last month, where out of the more than one million transfer passengers that were screened, 99.5 percent queued for under five minutes.

To further enhance customer satisfaction in the transfers areas,  passengers are being given the opportunity to share their customer satisfaction feedback and out of the one million customers screened in March, 90 percent rated their experience as either good or excellent.

Brigadier Essa Arar, Director of Airport Security Department said: “We are constantly trying to improve the security processes at the airport to make it more efficient and customer-friendly. This is a great combined effort by HIA, Qatar Civil Aviation Authority and the Ministry of Interior to improve the experience of passengers traveling through the State of Qatar.

We will continue to work together to achieve excellence in security in Qatar’s award winning airport”. Saeed Yousef Al Sulaiti, Vice-President of Airport Security at HIA said that the project took a total of eight months to roll out and has been praised by a number of international security regulators ranging from those within the UK, the US and New Zealand.

In the first quarter of this year, HIA served a total of 8.72 million passengers, handled 52,250 aircraft movements and 514,299 tonnes of cargo in total. The numbers demonstrate the strength of the country’s aviation sector and proved that the unjust siege imposed by the blockading countries has failed to have any impact.

HIA served 3 million passengers in January, 2.7 million in February and 3 million in March, which includes passengers arriving, departing and transferring through Qatars airport. HIA’s services for transfer passengers have been recognized by the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2018 where the five-star airport was honoured as the World’s Sixth Best Airport for Transit Passengers.

The success story of HIA will continue going forward as airport’s 2018 summer schedule is slated to be busy with many of its foreign airlines increasing their weekly flights to Doha.

HIA will also be serving approximately 15 new destinations this coming summer. HIA is recognised as one of the safest airports in the world and will continue its efforts to provide transfer passengers a hassle-free journey onward.
