Within seasonal projects, with the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) has started implementing projects for providing Iftar meals to fasting people abroad.
RAF had completed all preparations earlier to offer Iftar meals to poor people in 52 countries of Asia, Africa and Europe.
“Ramadan projects and many others that are being implemented by RAF in all over the world aim at creating the values of mercy, love and tolerance in various beneficiary countries,” said Dr Mohamad Salah Ibrahim, Deputy Director of RAF in a press conference held at the headquarters of RAF to announce Ramadan projects.
RAF will implement Ramadan projects in 52 countries – 19 in Asia, 25 in Africa and eight in Europe. RAF plans to implement a number of other Ramadan projects in the beneficiary countries like providing Eid clothes, Zakat Al Fitr – (a charity given to the poor at the end of the fasting in the Islamic holy month of Ramadan) to bring smile on the faces of children on Eid-Al Fitr and spread the spirit of mercy and cooperation in these communities.
Sudan, Morocco, Tunisia, Somalia, Mauritania, Djibouti and Comoros are Arab countries among 25 beneficiary countries selected by RAF in Africa, other countries that will receive Ramadan projects are Ethiopia, Senegal, Niger, Uganda, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Chad, Tanzania, South Africa, Rwanda, Côte d'Ivoire, Sierra Leone, Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Mali and Malawi, said Dr Mohamad Salah.
The 19 Asian countries selected by RAF for Ramadan projects are Yemen, Lebanon, Iraq, Jordan and Palestine in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, Syria, Nepal, Malaysia, Myanmar, Arakan, Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, Kyrgyzstan, India, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia and the Maldives.
Ramadan projects will be also implemented in eight European countries. They are Turkey, Montenegro, Kosovo, Albania, Macedonia, Switzerland, Bosnia and Ukraine.
Regarding development projects, Dr Mohamad Salah said: "RAF plans to run a campaign during holy month of Ramadan to collect donations to implement 600 projects at a cost of QR100m in 60 countries all over the world."
