The Diplomatic Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs celebrated the graduation of its 11th class, consisting of 31 trainees.
Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed bin Hassan Al Hammadi, said during a speech to mark the occasion, that the training had many benefits for all trainees, whether they worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' headquarters or in diplomatic missions. He stressed that a diplomat must focus on developing a number of qualities, the most important of which are honesty, discipline, respect as well as good time-management abilities.
The Secretary-General said that a good diplomat must also be fluent in classical Arabic, since it is their mother tongue. This must not however stop diplomats from learning new languages, the secretary-general added. He said that achieving a high status for a country cannot come without hard work that develops people capable of carrying out the vision of the wise leadership in all that relates to Qatar's foreign policy. The Secretary-General then provided an overview on how the Qatari embassies operated abroad.
For her part, Assistant Director of the Diplomatic Institute, Nadia Ahmed Al Shaibi, said that the institute had established 11 foundational programmes to provide the trainees with all the skills they need to understand international relations and the procedures for interacting with countries, organisations, and international authorities.
