LOS ANGELES: Juventus and Real Madrid will take part in the first ever soccer games played at historic Dodger Stadium on August 3, officials announced yesterday.

The 51-year-old Dodger Stadium will host two games involving four teams which comprise Spain’s Real Madrid, Juventus of Italy, England’s Everton and the California-based LA Galaxy.

The Dodger Stadium games are part of the inaugural Guinness International Champions Cup tournament. The Stadium is the home of Major League Baseball’s Los Angeles Dodgers.

“We’re very excited about this,” Dodgers president Stan Kasten said yesterday. Real Madrid is one of the most storied franchises in soccer, having won a record nine European titles. Two-time European champ Juventus have won 29 Italian league titles. REUTERS
