Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Public Health, in collaboration with the Gulf Health Council, marked Gulf Vaccination Day yesterday (March 30) by reaffirming the importance of immunisation in protecting public health and preventing the spread of infectious diseases.

In a statement shared on social media, the Ministry highlighted that vaccinations remain one of the most effective tools to safeguard communities, as they strengthen the body’s immune system and significantly reduce the risk of infection transmission. Emphasising safety, the statement noted that vaccines undergo rigorous testing processes to ensure they meet high standards before being approved for use.

It explained that vaccines work by enhancing immunity alongside the body’s natural defenses. By stimulating the immune system to produce antibodies, they provide necessary protection without exposing individuals to the actual disease.

The Ministry also addressed common concerns, stating that mild and temporary symptoms, such as a low-grade fever, may occur after vaccination. These reactions are normal and typically subside within a few days.

Gulf Vaccination Day serves as an annual reminder of the vital role vaccines play in maintaining public health and protecting communities across the region.
