Doha: The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, represented by the Industrial Inspection and Pollution Control Department, carried out surprise inspection campaigns of temporary establishments scattered on the sides of highways and internal roads and outside the planning of industrial areas.
The establishments carry out concrete and asphalt production activities for infrastructure projects in line with the commitment to the environmental standards stipulated in the Environmental Protection Law No. (30) of 2002 and its Executive Regulations No. (4) of 2005.
These campaigns resulted in issuance of 12 violations related to operating facilities for functioning without obtaining a permit, and referring them to the competent prosecution, and removal of 53 temporary facilities that do not meet the conditions for practising activity on the site. Some 22 temporary facilities were also seized in violation of laws and regulations or abandoned inside farms without obtaining necessary environmental permits.
Work is currently underway to remove them, through a task team formed for this purpose.
