Doha: Seasoned driver Ahmed Allouh lived up to expectations, producing a slick run to win the coveted Qatar National Baja title with a comfortable lead of over six minutes at the Losail International Circuit last weekend.
Qatar’s Allouh, pairing up with his co-driver Nasser Al Kuwari finished the 108km long stretch in 1hr 30mins 21secs in a Can-Am to top the overall standings in the T3 class.
In doing so, the duo defeated Khalid Al Mohannadi and his Jordanian co-driver S Shwareb who drove Polaris.
The pair completed the distance in 1:36.33.
Qatar’s Nayef al-Nasr and co-driver S al-Geraini, also driving a Can-Am finished the stage in 1:42:10 to secure third position in the category. Another pair in a Can-Am – Jassim Mohd Falahi and J Falahi of Iran took fourth position in the T3 class.
The T2 class was won by Mohamed Al Meer and Firas Allouh. They finished the timed stage in 1:42.10.
Overall, they were in the third spot. Jamal Al Fakhroo (Qatar) and Australian co-driver D Nikitopoulus were runners-up in the T2 class, driving a Nissan Patrol and clocking 1:46.53.
Rashid Juma Al Mohannadi and his Kiwi co-driver A Hassan Ali were third, clocking 1:55.59.
Qatar’s Sheikh Jassim Al Thani reigned supreme in the Bike category after edging out M Anderson with a lead of just below three minutes.
Sheikh Jassim clocked 1:29:10 to claim the top position with his opponent completing the race in 1:32:07.
The Quads honour went to South African M Beyers followed by B Abuswaileh and Qatar’s H Al Mansoori respectively.
Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation President Abdulrahman Al Mannai was the chief guest at the closing ceremony and gave away the cash prizes and trophies while lauding the participants.
