Doha: Doha hosted a meeting for the standing committee on Arab culture to discuss the Arab Decade for Cultural Right yesterday.
The two-day meeting is hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage, in cooperation with Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO).
During the opening session, Hamad Hamdan Al Mohannadi, Director, Department of Heritage at the ministry and Qatar’s representative on the committee, delivered the ministry’s speech session, welcoming the meeting.
He said it is pivotal because it ensures cultural rights of every Arab citizen such as their political and civil rights.
Al Mohannadi hoped the meeting will make recommendations to implement recommendations of the Arab culture ministers and meet Arab League’s goals to achieve cultural unity among Arab nations.
Dr Hayat Al Qurmazy, Director, Department of Culture, ALECSO, thanked Qatar and the ministry for hosting the meeting and said it serves as a workshop for the development of Arab Decade for Cultural Right within the cultural development framework.
