An abandoned motorboat is being removed from a port.
The Ministry of Municipality and Environment has launched a massive crackdown to remove abandoned motorboats and trailers. The Ministry also cleaned the beaches by removing garbage.
Under the campaign, the municipal had inspectors visited Al Fuwarit beach and pasted stickers on boats, left illegally on beaches, notifying the owners to remove it during given time. At the end of deadline, the erring boats were towed to the custody.
The General Cleaning Department at the Ministry removed garbage and other remains left by the visitors at beaches under several cleaning campaigns during past six months. The move aims at maintaining necessary hygiene at public places.
There were incidents of engine oil leakage from some vehicles of campers at the beaches located at northern part of the country. A cleaning campaign was also launched to remove the oil. Separate cleaning drives were also launched to clean the beaches at Al Khor, Arida, Al Dakhira and Al Arish, said a release.
The beach and island section at the Ministry installed has 25 shades at Sharawo Island, a major attraction of visitors. Many citizens and expatriates preferred to visit Sharawo Island during weekend.
The campaigns were launched under the efforts of the Ministry to develop the beaches and islands across the country so they would be able to receive huge number of visitors during summer vacation.
