Despite the current blockade, the Entertainment City, which is the main feature of this year’s Qatar Summer Festival (QSF), has witnessed large number of visitors even surpassing the previous years’ first week figures.
The indoor theme park saw a total of around 19,000 visitors from its opening day on Sunday until Wednesday, according to the information provided by the organisers of the event.
“About 19,000 people visited the Entertainment City in the first four days. In the previous years, the first week would have around 19,000 visitors, so we have breached that mark,” Adil Ahmed, founder of QSports, told The Peninsula yesterday.
QSports is the local events management company which delivers this year’s Entertainment City which is located at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre.
“This year, all the necessary support have been provided by local companies, nothing from abroad,” stressed Ahmed, while expressing confidence on the prospects of the coming days following the Eid Al Fitr holidays.
As a major highlight of the fourth annual QSF, the Entertainment City runs until September 5, marking its longest edition yet. “We are optimistic on reaching our target. We are getting good reviews. In fact, we have already received close to 8,000 comments online,” he said.
Among the people who have already enjoyed the various offerings of the theme park are visitors who came all the way from Kuwait and Oman, he said.
Visitors to the Entertainment City have 87 games to choose from across 11 categories catered to different ages, from toddler games and kids’ rides to arcade and virtual reality games to skills games as well as new exciting features such as the world’s largest inflatable obstacle course and the biggest trampoline park.
“All the games are attracting many games enthusiasts, but the most popular so far are the paintball shooting range, trampoline, the largest inflatable obstacle course, zipline and virtual reality games,” noted Ahmed. Apart from the games, the city, which is open from 2pm to 11pm daily, also features more than 30 live shows and performances, a food court and pop-up shops.
Entry ticket costs QR15 and individual games are priced between QR5 and QR75.
The Entertainment City will also host the fourth International Mindsports Championships expected to see 1,500 mindsports enthusiasts from over 40 countries from August 19 to 27.
