Queen Maxima of Netherlands has praised the Aquino government for its efforts to enable Filipinos to have more access to financial services so they can provide better lives for their families and themselves.

The royal visitor paid a courtesy call on President Aquino in Malacañang and talked about greater financial inclusion to improve the lives and empower people.

Designated in 2009 by the United Nations Secretary General as is special advocate for inclusive finance for development, Queen Maxima arrived in Manila last June 29 and will depart on July 1.

“Queen Maxima commended the Philippines’ efforts on financial inclusion and highlighted that the National Strategy for Financial Inclusion (NSFI), an inter-agency program spearheaded by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) that would be launched Wednesday 01 July, is a good step towards enabling Filipinos to have access to financial services,” Presidential Communications Operations Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said.

The President told the visiting queen about his government’s resolve in ensuring financial inclusion among all Filipinos, Coloma said.
