KOLKATA: On a day the ITI entrance exam question paper was leaked and a high powered CID probe was ordered, the Shakespeare Sarani police arrested an UGC NET aspirant using Whatsapp to try and cheat in the exams. As competitive examinations become cut throat and job oriented - what educationist and former CBSE chairman Ashok Ganguly calls "a gap between a 19th century examiner and a 21st century examinee" - such incidents are becoming common place. While the Kolkata police recently busted gangs impersonating in WBJEE medical entrance examination, the CID also found impersonations being carried out at the All India Pre-Medical Entrance exams and SSC exams. Such was the level of impersonation at AIPMT that it was finally scrapped by the Supreme Court.
