Doha: The Ministry of Labour (MoL) organised the first regular meeting for 2022 with the holders of permits to practice the profession of recruiting workers from abroad for third parties, with the aim of raising their awareness of the promulgated decisions, procedures, and instructions.

Stemming from MoL’s vision of continuous consultation with the owners of recruitment agencies and offices, this meeting was held to ensure the optimal implementation of decisions and instructions to strike a balance in the labour market.

The meeting reviewed the provisions of the decision regarding setting the maximum fees for recruiting workers from abroad for third parties, whether it was a new or recalled request, as per the decision that was promulgated last February.

The meeting also reviewed the requirements for the decision of extending the probation period to become 9 months, and how to implement and observe it in order to achieve the interest of all parties. During convention, the clarification of  the terms of the contract between the recruited worker and the recruitment office and the necessity of concluding contracts compulsorily were discussed.

MoL confirmed that the decisions, procedures, and instructions issued were aimed at providing the best services and advancing  the labour market, especially domestic workers, in addition to preserving the rights of both parties;  the permit holder and the employer.

For their part, permit holders lauded the organization of the consultative meeting with the ministry on a regular basis to ensure the optimal implementation of the decisions and instructions that would organize the recruitment process.
