Abuja: Representing Qatar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs H E Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud attended the inauguration of Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, along with several heads of state and government and senior officials from across the world.
Al Mahmoud conveyed greetings of Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Buhari and wishes of further progress in relations between both countries to serve common interests of the two peoples.
Buhari entrusted Al Mahmoud with greetings to the Emir for Qatar’s participation, wishing him the best of health and happiness and both countries further progress and prosperity.
On Thursday night, Al Mahmoud attended a dinner banquet hosted by outgoing president Goodluck Jonathan in honour of heads of state and government, ministers and dignitaries. Buhari also attended. Qatari Ambassador Abdulaziz bin Mubarak Al Muhannadi also attended the inauguration. Later, Al Mahmoud returned home.
DOHA: The Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning has completed evaluation of the fifth waste recycling programme, which covered 48 secondary schools for boys and girls. The schools are in Doha, Al Wakra, Al Rayyan, Al Khor, Al Thakhira, Umm Slal, Al Daayen, Al Shamal, Dukhan, Lejamiliyah, Al Shahaniya and Rawdat Rashid. The evaluation was done by the awareness team of the General Cleanliness Project at the ministry.
Geneva: Ambassador Faisal bin Abdullah Al Henzab, Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the UN, yesterday met UN High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres and discussed matters of joint interest. Guterres praised Qatar’s support to the commission’s activities and Syrian refugees. QNA
