Adam Lyth was 80 not out and Alastair Cook, the England captain, 71 not out, having overtaken Graham Gooch's as England's leading all-time Test run-scorer during the course of this innings.
England lead the two-match series 1-0 after their 124-run win in the first Test at Lord's on Monday.
