Berlin: The first tickets for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil will go on sale on August 20, the ruling football body FIFA said yesterday.
FIFA said in a statement on their website that tickets for the June 12-July 13, 2014, tournament with 64 games in 12 Brazilian cities can be purchased via www.fifa.com.
Some 3.3 million tickets are said to be available and will be distributed in several sales stages, dpa reported.
The first stage, for which prices and the number of tickets will be communicated on July 1, is a worldwide lottery.
The four direct qualifiers from Asia for the 32-team tournament will be known by then. QNA
