DOHA: A 4.9 magnitude earthquake jolted areas in southern Iran early yesterday but the tremor had no impact on Qatar, the local Seismic Information Centre has said.
According to Qatar’s Meteorology Department, the Seismic Information Centre here recorded an earthquake of 4.9magnitude which hit south of Iran at 5:33:47am Qatar time.
The epicenter of the quake was 319km north-east of Doha and the quake had no effect on Qatar, said a release issued by the Meteorology Department.
The depth of the quake was 19 km. In other words, the quake took place 19km below the earth’s surface.
