Doha: Minister of Municipality H E Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie has participated in the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) and the 14th Agriculture Ministers’ Conference, which was held via video communication technology.
The forum, which was held under the title “Sustainable Land Use: Sustainable Land Use: Food Security Starts with the Soil” and organised by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture of Germany, was attended by United Nations Secretary-General H E Antonio Guterres, Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) H E Qu Dongyu, and the European Commission on Agriculture and agriculture ministers from 80 countries.
The forum discussed the role of soil in securing diverse foods to ensure food security and nutrition as well as the extent of countries' commitment to maintaining soil protection through sustainable use of land and support for flexible and sustainable food systems, promoting and developing innovations, technology and agricultural research, preserving soil biodiversity, protecting and promoting climate and adapting to it, in order to achieve sustainable development goals.
