Dammam: The joint tactical exercise for the security services of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for Arab States, Arab Gulf Security 3, which was held over 14 days at the Eastern Region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, concluded yesterday.

The delegation of Qatar to the closing ceremony was headed by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior and Commander of the Lekhwiya Force H E Maj Gen Abdulaziz bin Faisal Al Thani.

Qatar participated with forces from the Ministry of Interior and Lekhwiya in the exercise which aimed at enhancing the security cooperation, raising the level of coordination, interaction and exchange of experiences between the security services of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, in addition to joint planning to confront potential threats and risks.

Commenting on the occasion, H E Maj Gen Abdulaziz bin Faisal Al Thani praised the level of the forces taking part in the joint tactical exercise, and the high level of coordination and readiness of the various security services, in addition to the implementation of scenarios that simulate potential risks.

He said that the exercise, in addition to its objectives in raising the efficiency of the security services in the GCC states, contributes to exchanging security expertise and raising the level of security readiness among the sectors of the ministries of interior and the security services in the GCC states.

He noted that the importance of the exercise is reflected in the joint planning and implementation of operations, the exchange of security information, and taking appropriate decisions in the areas of planning, management, command and control, in order to unify concepts and achieve homogeneity and compatibility.

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior and Commander of the Lekhwiya Force underlined that the exercise directly contributed to raising the readiness of the participating forces, developing capabilities, enriching experiences, achieving the desired integration of the various services participating in the exercise, and enhancing their capabilities in implementing all procedures and performing the required duties with high skill.

He expressed his confidence that this joint exercise will be reflected in good performance and achieving understanding and harmony in the implementation of joint operations, in a manner that ensures integration of efforts and joint cooperation to achieve the best security experiences.

Qatar is scheduled to host the next edition of the joint tactical exercise for the security services of the GCC states.
