Abd-al-Aziz Omar Al-Shahri
DOHA: Abd-al-Aziz Omar Al-Shahri, a student at Qatar Leadership Academy (QLA), a member of the Qatar Foundation, received the third place in the World Cup of Archery. The third stage of the indoor shooting competition was held in Nice, France.
The tournament took place recently with the participation of more than 60 international archers. Abd-al-Aziz represented Qatar for the bow and arrow and it is worth mentioning that Abd-al-Aziz Al-Shahri was the youngest archer in the tournament, and the only Arab archer in the championship.
Abd-al-Aziz said,”I am proud of what I have achieved, and I will keep it up and put more efforts to enthrone the name of my beloved country, Qatar, on all local and international platforms, The championship has strengthened my self-confidence and will have a positive impact on building my leadership skills. I dedicate this achievement to my beloved country, Qatar.”
“I thank my school, QLA for honing my talents and developing leadership, social and sports skills in myself. Its diverse programs aim to build a strong generation, build world champions and educate future generations by focusing on innovation and creativity. In all areas, QLA provided me with all the means, and encouraged me to join the Qatar Shooting and Arrow Federation, which in turn gave me all the odds and challenges to learn this unique sport in Qatar that require the player to focus, perseverance and restraint,” he added.
Staff Brigadier Ali Ahmad Al Kuwari, Director of QLA, said, “Our cadet Abd-al- Aziz is one of the outstanding students in leadership and creativity. QLA has cultivated loyalty and belonging among its students by believing in their abilities, and this paved the way for our world champion Abd-al- Aziz to compete in the championship and with confidence and ability, raised the name of Qatar high in international forums.”
“This global achievement came through stimulation at all levels, and the belief in the importance of cooperation, participation, and exchange of experiences between different institutions in Qatar. This led to the development of performance with high professionalism. This qualified our champion Abd-al- Aziz to achieve the excellence,” he added.
Abd-al- Aziz joined the Qatari team for the bow and arrow last year. He received two medals during his participation in the Emir Championship and the Qatar Shooting Federation Cup last year.
