Doha, Qatar: Ambassador of Türkiye to Qatar H E Yakup Caymazoğlu has said that Turkish-Qatari relations are “renowned for their strength and depth” as they have evolved into a strategic partnership, characterised by a shared vision and a dynamic approach to regional challenges.

He was addressing the National Day reception ceremony yesterday on the occasion of the 103rd anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Türkiye.

The reception was attended by Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs H E Ghanem bin Shaheen bin Ghanem Al Ghanim, Minister of Municipality H E Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs H E Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi,

Minister of Public Health H E Mansour bin Ebrahim bin Saad Al Mahmoud, Minister of State and President of Qatar National Library H E Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kawari, Director of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs H E Ambassador Ibrahim Yousef Fakhro, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of Eritrea H E Ali Ibrahim Ahmed and other dignitaries, diplomats and guests.

“I would like to begin my remarks by paying tribute to, with the utmost respect and appreciation, His Highness the late Father Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, may Allah rest his soul. His wise leadership and far-sighted vision made a profound contribution to the Qatar’s remarkable progress and to the strenghtening of its distinguished standing on the international stage.”

The Ambassador said, “Turkish-Qatari relations are renowned for their strength and depth. They have evolved into a strategic partnership, characterised by a shared vision and a dynamic approach to regional challenges. One of the clearest manifestations of this partnership is the establishment of the Supreme Strategic Committee (SSC) between Türkiye and Qatar. I am confident that the 12th meeting of the Committee, scheduled to take place in Türkiye this year, will give further momentum to our relations and take them to even greater heights.” Yet, he noted, the true value of the closeness between our two countries cannot be measured by signed agreements alone. “Friendship finds its deepest meaning in the solidarity demonstrated during difficult times, and Türkiye and Qatar have demonstrated this commitment repeatedly.

“We stood side by side during the COVID-19 pandemic and shared a sense of pride and joy in Qatar’s successful hosting of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. We will also never forget the helping hand extended by our Qatari brothers to our people following the devastating earthquakes that struck Türkiye on 6 February 2023.”

Türkiye, the Ambassador said, has always stood firmly by its brotherly nation, Qatar and has reaffirmed its unwavering support, particularly during Qatar’s efforts to safeguard its sovereignty and security.

“For the Turkish and Qatari peoples, brotherhood is not merely a word spoken in times of prosperity; it is a genuine responsibility that becomes even more meaningful in times of hardship.”

Yakup Caymazoğlu said that the sensitive phase our region is going through has once again underscored the importance of security, solidarity, and preparedness in confronting crises.

“As a longstanding member of NATO, Türkiye is fully aware of its regional responsibilities and the importance of cooperating with friendly and brotherly countries in contributing to regional stability. The “BADR” Memorandum of Understanding, signed in Doha on 21 October 2026 by Türkiye, Qatar, Pakistan, and Indonesia, is a concrete example of this approach.”

He added, “We greatly appreciate the constructive role played by the State of Qatar in mediation efforts to resolve conflicts and address regional crises, particularly the situation in Gaza and the war involving Iran. Türkiye, for its part, is making intensive efforts to support dialogue and diplomacy on issues, ranging from Gaza and Ukraine to the Horn of Africa and other conflicts in our region. Türkiye and Qatar will continue to work together in support of this approach.”
