Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Interior urged citizens licensed to possess or carry firearms not to lend, hand over, or otherwise allow any other person to possess them, regardless of their relationship to the licence holder.
The Ministry stressed that a firearms licence is personal and legally restricted to the licence holder, and that handing over or lending a firearm, or allowing an unlicensed person to possess it, constitutes a clear violation of Law No. (14) of 1999 on Weapons, Ammunition and Explosives, as amended.
The Ministry noted that any violation of the above will subject both the licence holder and the unlicensed person in possession of the firearm to criminal liability and the legally prescribed penalties of imprisonment and a fine, as well as the revocation of the firearms licence and confiscation of the firearm. The licence holder will also be barred from obtaining any firearms licence in the future.
The Ministry of Interior reiterated that it will not hesitate to take the necessary legal measures against anyone found to have violated the applicable laws and instructions in this regard, in order to safeguard the security and stability of society.
