DOHA: The Emergency Unit at Hamad General Hospital received 788 cases in 12 hours from 6am to 6pm on the fifth day of Eid Al Adha yesterday.
The cases were related to stomach problems due to eating of fast food, cold flue, heart problems and minor sickness, among others.
“The unit received 788 cases, some of them were referred to specialised units like surgery, heart section and other patients discharged after necessary treatment,” said Dr Zainab Abdul Muhsin Mustafa, from the unit.
About 1,400 cases were taken to the unit from September 21 to 28, mostly related to road accidents, injuries, and stomach disorders. Cases on first day of Eid included stomach problems due to eating of excessive meat, fractures and some minor cases, among others.
The unit was open round the clock during Eid holidays, along with specialised units, laboratories and X-ray.
Ambulance Service of Hamad Medical Hospital deployed motorbike ambulances in crowded places like Hamad International Airport, Katara and Aspire Park. Motorbike ambulances were also available at the venues of Eid Al Adha celebrations as it was difficult for vehicle ambulances to access, Al Sharq reports.
