Cape TowN: Frenchman Philippe Troussier has quit Tunisians CS Sfaxien and Dutchman Ruud Krol has taken over Libyans Al Ahly Tripoli in African club coaching moves.
Troussier, known as the ‘White witchdoctor’ throughout Africa, left Sfaxien by mutual consent after they failed to reach the CAF Champions League final.
Sfaxien fell 2-1 at home to Democratic Republic of Congo outfit AS V Club, having lost the first leg of the semi-final by the same score.
Troussier, 59, joined Sfaxien in July, saying he wanted to be closer to his Rabat-based family after working in Japan and China.
A successful spell with Ivorian club ASEC Mimosas from 1989 established the Frenchman in Africa.
He guided the national teams of Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Burkina Faso and South Africa plus leading Moroccan and South African clubs. Krol, part of the Netherlands teams that lost the 1974 and 1978 World Cup finals, has been hired to prepare Ahly for the 2015 CAF Champions League.AFP
