TJ Monterde and KZ Tandingan's In Between Middle East Tour
Doha, Qatar: The Philippine music industry is experiencing a commercial resurgence. Supported by a base of listeners marked by a culture of music consumption, the sector caters to diverse consumer segments and is generating increased economic value in both domestic and foreign markets.
Industry growth is driven by two key factors: high digital engagement and strong consumer preference for local content. Spotify data shows that Filipinos are among the most active streaming users globally, with digital streaming generating over 90 percent of recorded music revenue. Simultaneously, local music dominates domestic playback charts. This demand for Original Pilipino Music (OPM) is accelerated by the rise of Pinoy Pop (P-Pop) acts such as BINI and SB19, alongside groups including Alamat, BGYO, and Hori7on.

According to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry’s (IFPI) Global Music Report 2025, revenues from recorded music in the Philippines, including physical sales, streaming, and digital downloads, reached $5.1bn, or $88.3m, in 2024. The live events sector, covering major concerts and national tours, as well as music tourism, which is traditionally driven by festivals and cross-border travels, generate over $160m in annual revenues.
Filipino talent is also expanding into international markets. BINI became the first Filipino and Southeast Asian girl group to perform at Coachella, while SB19 was the first Filipino group to play at Lollapalooza. These appearances signal the marketability and export readiness of Philippine music production.
This international expansion relies heavily on the overseas Filipino diaspora. Large population centres in the Middle East and other regions provide a reliable customer base for international tours. Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) also represent the primary market for foreign concert ticket sales, while also driving digital streams, merchandise sales, and peer-to-peer marketing.
Qatar serves as a clear case study for international market viability. Between 2023 and 2025, Doha hosted several sold-out concerts. These include those by Regine Velasquez and Moira in 2023; Eraserheads, Sarah Geronimo, and Bamboo in 2024; and SB19, Rivermaya, TJ Monterde, KZ Tandingan, and Maki in 2025. Supported by state initiatives to expand its live entertainment sector, Qatar features a mature consumer market driven by an OFW demographic with high discretionary spend.
Indeed, despite broader macroeconomic headwinds, the Philippine music sector remains positioned for sustained revenue growth and continued market expansion throughout 2026.
