DOHA: A misdemeanour court has imposed fines of up to QR10,000 on several contracting companies for violating safety rules at work sites and leaving behind equipment in unsafe condition after completing projects.
Some companies were fined QR10,000 and others QR5,000 based on their violations. The court also ordered the companies to rectify their violations.
Violations were registered during routine inspections by authorities.
The companies were referred to the Public Prosecution and then to the court after completing legal procedures.
The firms were working on road development projects in residential areas and laying electricity and water connection.
Most of them have completed work but did not remove equipment.
Some companies left equipment on sites in very unsafe way threatening public safety, Al Raya reports.
