Doha: General Manager of Cultural Village Foundation (Katara), Prof. Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti yesterday inaugurated an exhibition ‘Portrait of Contemporary’ by Ukrainian artist Andrii Abhinava Chernovil.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Ambassador of Ukraine to Qatar H E Andriy Kuzmenko and a number of dignitaries and guests.

The exhibition, which is organised by the Katara in cooperation with Embassy of Ukraine in Qatar, includes a number of portraits by Chernovil, which is an exclusive collection of artworks.
Dr. Al Sulaiti said that the exhibition presents high quality and international standard artworks.
He said that it opens the window for those interested to learn about this type of art that highlights the highest techniques of portraiture by displaying drawings of a number of prominent figures in society and others from the artist’s family.
Katara General Manager stressed the keenness of the Katara Cultural Village to enrich the art galleries with various exhibitions by presenting international artistic experiences.
Speaking about Andreii’s work Nadia Chernovil said that the new portrait techniques are the idea of continuing the path of the ‘contemporary portrait’ of artist’s creative journey, which includes portraits of figures of high status in society, including in the diplomatic, financial, business and cultural fields to make up his art collection.
The exhibition includes a group of portraits entitled “Digital Art is a National Wealth”, “The Smell of Memory”, “The Green Queen”, in addition to portraits of a number of their Excellencies Sheikhs, such as Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah Al Thani and Sheikh Saud bin Mohammed Al Thani.
Andrii studied drawing techniques and visual art in the studio of his famous mentor Vitaly Alikbekov.
Commitment as drawer and painter and an avid traveller since 1995 — tailored Andrii’s focus creating images of various ethnicities and his family friends. During his creative journey around the world, he has produced more than 50 portraits.
