Doha: Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani yesterday sent cables of congratulations to Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev, Nepal President Dr Ram Baran Yadav and Ethiopian President Dr Mulatu Teshome on their countries’ National Day.
Deputy Emir H H Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani sent similar cables to the presidents.
Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani also sent congratulatory cables to the presidents.

Paris: The Qatari-French Joint Cultural Committee yesterday met under co-chairmanship of Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage H E Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, who is heading a Qataris delegation, and French Minister of Culture and Communication Fleur Pellerin.
The meeting took place within the framework of a cultural agreement signed between both countries during the visit of Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to France last year and the French president’s visit to Doha this year. The delegation included representatives of Qatar Museums. Katara Cultural Village and Qatar National Library.
Dr Al Kuwari expressed Qatar’s pride to belong to the Arab and Islamic civilisation and said Qatar appreciates French culture, which excelled in arts, literature, heritage and science.
He reviewed Qatar’s interest in French culture through educational and cultural projects in Doha and said many citizens are seeking to learn the French language, pointing out the presence of three French institutions in Qatar in addition to French speaking radio Oryx FM.
Dr Al Kuwari said the ministry continues to promote cultural exchange through translation of reference books from French into Arabic and Qatari writers’ works from Arabic into French.
Dr Al Kuwari invited Pellerin to visit Qatar. QNA
