Doha, Qatar: Minister of Public Health, HE Mansoor bin Ebrahim Al Mahmoud, inaugurated the Second Forum on Regulating Healthcare in the Private Health Sector, organised by the Ministry of Public Health.
The forum aims to strengthen collaboration and integration between the public and private sectors, while providing a platform to discuss proposals, insights, and initiatives designed to increase private sector participation in the delivery of healthcare services in the State of Qatar.
The forum was attended by senior officials from the Ministries of Public Health, Commerce and Industry, and Labour, as well as representatives from the Qatar Chamber and the private healthcare sector.
During the event, His Excellency launched the Stakeholder Engagement Portal in the Health Sector, which enables healthcare providers and relevant stakeholders to review draft health regulations, actively contribute to their development, and stay informed of the latest regulatory updates.
The platform supports enhanced transparency and partnership, while fostering a more inclusive and responsive regulatory environment that meets the evolving needs of the healthcare sector, ultimately strengthening the quality of care and governance in Qatar.
In his opening remarks, His Excellency reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to achieving the highest standards of quality, safety, and transparency for every patient in every healthcare facility, noting that the private healthcare sector represents a key pillar in the provision of healthcare services in Qatar.
He further emphasised the Ministry’s aspiration for the private sector to play an even greater role in healthcare delivery, expressing confidence in its ability to provide high-quality, innovative services and deliver optimal value for both patients and the healthcare system.
His Excellency highlighted that the Ministry continues to modernise its regulatory frameworks in line with the rapid growth and development of the healthcare sector, in close collaboration with all relevant stakeholders.
He added: “We are working to enhance the efficiency of the healthcare system through digital solutions, artificial intelligence technologies, and the latest technological advancements, alongside secure and integrated data systems that support sector development, enable faster risk detection, and improve decision-making.”
He concluded by reaffirming the importance of strong collaboration with the private healthcare sector in realising the shared vision of developing a world-class healthcare system that fosters excellence and innovation.
The forum also featured a short video presentation showcasing the progress of the private healthcare sector and its strategic partnership with the Ministry in advancing the healthcare system in Qatar.
Dr Ghanim Ali Al Mannai, Assistant Undersecretary for Healthcare Regulatory Affairs at the Ministry of Public Health, delivered a presentation highlighting key initiatives and projects aimed at strengthening the role of the private healthcare sector and increasing its contribution to service delivery.
These initiatives include updates to legal frameworks, as well as operational systems and programmes designed to streamline procedures, enhance partnerships, and ensure the highest standards of quality.
The forum also included a constructive discussion session with representatives from the private healthcare sector, focusing on strengthening collaboration, addressing challenges, and supporting the continued advancement of the healthcare system in Qatar.
The forum is held on a regular basis as part of the Ministry of Public Health’s commitment to the continuous development of the healthcare system, in active partnership with all sectors.
It aims to promote excellence, sustainability, and innovation, while improving the health and wellbeing of all people in the State of Qatar.
