Malacañang on Wednesday assured that despite the resignation of Energy Secretary Carlos Jericho Petilla, work at the Department of Energy (DOE) will not be disrupted.

Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said the public should not be worried about Petilla’s resignation amid fears on power shortage this summer.

“Titiyakin po ng ating pamahalaan na walang pagkaantala o pagkabalam sa paghatid ng mahalagang serbisyo sa ating mamamayan lalung-lalo na diyan sa pagtiyak ng pagpapatuloy ng suplay ng kuryente sa panahon ng tag-init [The government will make sure that there will be no disruption in public service, especially in ensuring continuous power supply this summer],” Coloma said.

Coloma also pointed out that President Aquino himself assured that there will be smooth transition at the DOE.

Petilla announced his resignation as head of DOE Wednesday. Reports had earlier revealed that Petilla will be seeking for an elective post in 2016
