Doha: Mohammed Osman Ali has been appointed Managing Editor of The Peninsula newspaper.
During his 12-year-long association with the publication, he has served in different positions.
After serving as a reporter and Deputy Head of the Local Section, he was promoted to the post of Head of Local Section and then assumed charge of the Deputy Managing Editor.
Since July 2021, Mohammad Osman has been serving the newspaper as Deputy Managing Editor. He has now been appointed as Managing Editor of The Peninsula newspaper with immediate effect.
Mohammad Osman, hailing from Eritrea, obtained his Masters degree in linguistics from SOAS University of London.
He has served at the Ministry of Education, Eritrea, as a curriculum developer and head of Arabic curriculum department and at the Minister’s office as head of the department of scholarships and foreign cooperation.
The Editor-in-Chief Dr. Khalid Mubarak Al-Shafi hopes his appointment will not only help the newspaper maintain its leading position in English print journalism in Qatar but will also set new standards in creating quality content, keeping pace with emerging changes in the media industry.
He has also written many books including 'Religion and State in Eriteria and Ethiopia' and several articles in reputed publications on socio-political affairs from the region.
