Officials at the ceremony to open the health centre in Chad.
A Qatari benefactor has donated money to construct an integrated health centre, launched by Qatar Charity, in Omdurman in Chad, in order to raise hope and contribute to better health care there.
A large ceremony was dedicated to this occasion in the presence of the Health Minister; Hamad bin Abdul Hadi Al Hajri, Ambassador of Qatar in Chad, officials and religious figures in Qatar, and a large gathering of villagers and people from the surrounding areas.
The Health Minister said, “The projects implemented by Qatar Charity help alleviate major worries of the citizens.”
The centre is going to offer help to 20,000 people through its medical staff, a 250 square metre building consisting of 8 main rooms and their dependencies, a pharmacy, a store, private toilets for both the staff and the patients and visitors; basic medical equipment and office supplies, in addition to an electric generator to keep the centre constantly operating.
Uthman ibn Affan health centre aims at providing people with medical services, reducing epidemics and infectious diseases which are very prevalent in the region, immunizing children against those diseases and contributing to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.
Stressing on the distinctiveness of the health centre which is considered a special developmental project, the Health Minister of the Republic of Chad said in his speech at the opening ceremony of the center that QC is used to carry out such development projects that meet the concerns of people in Chad and promote development serving both the health sector and human development through its income-generating projects, and other significant efforts in Chad.
Further, he pointed out that the ministry has assigned medical staff for the clinic, consisting of a doctor, an administrative director, a nurse and a laboratory technician in order to provide medical services to the residents of the region, mentioning that this health center will help the residents of the area get needed medical services.
It’s noteworthy that the same Qatari donor had previously financed a number of important projects to be carried out in Omdurman in Chad, including drilling of a solar-powered artesian well, a grain-grinding machine, electric pumps for farmers to irrigate their crops, and other income-generating projects. He pledged as well to develop this village through implementing sustainable future projects, mainly building a primary school, a mosque, a Holy Quran memorization center, and a training center.
