Olive International School recently organised its first Annual Day celebration at its primary school campus, Nuaija.
The event was inaugurated by the Chief Guest T P Srinivasan (former ambassador of India to the UN and currently head and Executive Vice Chairman of Kerala State Higher Education Council), Guest of honour Dinesh Udenia (First Secretary, press and education, embassy of India) and Stan A (Head of Patrician Schools, India).
Messages were given by Chief Patron of the school Saleh Abdullah Al Sulaiti and Chairman Devis Edukulathoor. A melodious welcome dance was presented by the primary students. The school coordinator of Olive International School Shalini Rawat presented the welcome address. A J George, school’s principal, presented the school’s annual report highlighting the prominent achievement of the school during the academic year 2014-2015.
T P Sereenivasan spoke about the education changes that are currently happening in around the world and needs to change according to the need of the hour. Annual Magazine Olivian was released by T P Sreenivasan in the presence of dignitaries and board members Juttas Paul, Sonu Augustine and Jayan Devassy.
The cultural bonanza kicked off wuth “The fable of the grasshopper and the ants” enacted by Grade 3 students. The preschoolers enacted the fairytale “Snow white and the Seven Dwarfs.” The next in line was a collage of Qatar, beautifully put together in the “Glimpses of Qatar” by Grade 1 and 2 children. The story showed how Qatar has accommodated different cultures and people from over 150 countries and how it is ready to embrace even the aliens. The “Fusion dance” presented by Grade 3 students was a choreographed blend of Indian Classical music and western music. The grand finale staged the entire cast from KG1 to Grade 3 dancing to the tunes of “Jai ho” song. The evening ended with vote of thanks by Shabia Qureshi and school song “Lux Mentis –Lux Orbis” by the school choir.
