Doha: A confident Eljaish, fresh from their Qatar Stars Cup truimph, will be looking forward to carry the consistent run of form to the Qatar Stars League (QSL) match against Al Kharaitiyat here today.
The Razvan Lucescu coached-side defeated Al Arabi 2-0 in the final to win the Qatar Stars Cup on Sunday.
Eljaish are currently in the third place, two pionts behind second place Lekhwiya and seven points from leaders Al Sadd.
Kharaitiyat, on the other hand are in the ninth place with 20 points.
Coach Lucescu said there are no easy matches in the QSL.
“This will be a very dangerous game for us. We are very wary about the situation because we play Kharaitiyat when they are in good form,” said Lucescu.
“They are coming after three almost-perfect results. These results show us they are a very well prepared team. They are very aggressive and defend very well and can break with very past players up front to take advantage of the counter-attacks.
“For us it will be a difficult game for all these reasons. We have to avoid making silly mistakes,” the Eljaish official said yesterday.
Kharaitiyat coach Bernard Simondi said the win in the first leg will work to his team’s advantage.
“We won the first against El Jaish so I think that will give us confidence going into this game. There are a lot of questions for us right now which we don’t have the answers to. It’s a very frustrating time,” Simondi said.
