Indian embassy registered 29 deaths this month

DOHA: The Indian embassy registered the deaths of its 29 nationals here this month. 
The total number of deaths registered last year was 279 and a similar number in the previous year. Details were released at the monthly Open House at the embassy yesterday.
Since the beginning of this year, the Labour and Community Welfare Section received 754 complaints from Indian workers compared to 4,132 last year. 
Based on requests from Qatari authorities for travel documents for Indians in the Search and Follow Up Department, the embassy issued 24 emergency certificates this month. 
The embassy also issued 23 air tickets to Indians in distress for their return home this month.
The total number of Indians in the Central Prison and the Search and Follow Up Department is 126 and 175, respectively.
Ambassador Sanjiv Arora, Deputy Chief of Mission R K Singh and other officials met Indians attending the event, discussed their problems and promised to follow up on their cases with Qatari authorities.
Arvind Patil, President, Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF), was present. Assistance given by ICBF to Indians during this month includes eight air tickets for destitute workers.
