Iran defeated Qatar to record their first win of the FIBA World Cup Asian qualifiers in Tehran yesterday. The hosts won the match with a margin of 65-39, to bounce back from a Day-two loss.
Arsalan Kazemi ruled the boards with 17 rebounds to prop up Iran’s cause, while the scoring cudgels fell on the shoulders of Meisam Mirzaei, Sajjad Mashayekhi and Vahid Dalirzahan, who put up 14, 13 and 10 points respectively.
Qatari players could not find any rhythm in yesterdat’s game, and they absorbed their second loss in Group D. Abdulrahman Saad was the top contributor for Al Annabi with 18 points.
