Qatar meteorology department signs MoU with Pakistani counterpart

Doha: Qatar Meteorology Department and the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) signed on Wednesday a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of marine meteorological services aimed at enhancing cooperation and coordination in all arrangements and procedures relating to the implementation of the Marine data collection for the Gulf Sea Center in Qatar.
The MoU was signed by Director of Qatar Meteorology Department, Ahmed Abdullah Mohamed, and Director General of PMD, Dr. Ghulam Rasul.
The mechanism of action in the center will in line with World Meteorological Organization principles and will be registered within the classification of regional data and products (DCPC ) at the organization under the umbrella of the WMO Information system (WIS).
The MoU aims to focus cooperation in the field of marine meteorological services and support the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) in the Gulf Sea.
The cooperation includes multiple aspects, including capacity building in the field of marine meteorology, numerical weather prediction and will also support applications of scientific research in the field of fluctuations in climate and climate change, marine disasters related to weather.
I will allow as well the exchange of experiences between Qatar Meteorology Department and its Pakistani counterpart.
