DOHA: The Ministry of Interior (MoI) yesterday launched a set of new electronic services, including those provided by General Directorate of Nationality, Passports and Expatriates Affairs and General Directorate of Traffic.
The launch at the Information Systems Department of the ministry was attended by Brig. Mohamed Saad Al Kharji, Director-General of Traffic, Brig. Abdurrahman Al Malki, Assistant Director of Information Systems, and other officials.
The new e-services include revising visa details, changing visa type, activating E-Gate Services, E-Gate services renewals, written off vehicle certificates, vehicle clearance certificates, driver’s licence certificates, exported vehicle certificates, first owner certificates, vehicle ownership certificates, ownership transfer certificates, previously owned vehicles certificates, fancy numbers certificates, travel movement statements and queries.
It was lined up within the framework of Digital Strategy 2020 to enhance service portals by using latest technologies.
The number of e-services offered by the ministry to individuals and organisation has exceeded 50 in different areas. Now over 250 e-services are accessible on the ministry website and Metrash2.
Data shows that over 1.2 million transactions have been completed so far this year through Metrash2, while the number of queries reached more than four million.
The number of people registered on Metrash2 has reached 181,000, about 350 subscribers daily.
The new services would help save time and efforts of the people, Brig Al Kharji said, calling on people to access them through electronic media without straining to attend departments or service centres.
The launch of e-services would impact not only the services sector but also the growth of economy and trade and development of various sectors in the state.
