Al Sailiya will be looking to get back to winning ways in the league following a narrow 3-2 defeat to Al Sadd last time out as they meet Al Markhiya in the first game of the third QNB Stars League (QSL) round at Al Arabi Stadium today.
Peregrines coach Sami Trabelsi, whose side is currently fifth on the points table warned his players against a ‘disciplined’ Al Markhiya side. The newly-promoted Al Markhiya are reeling on the bottom but the Peregrines coach said his team needs to be cautious against the spirited side.
“Al Markhiya are well organised team, very disciplined and doing well in attack and defence breaking well on the counter attack and we have to be fully aware of them,” Trabelsi said at a pre-match press conference.
Al Sailiya just missed out against Al Sadd, and Trabelsi admitted his team is preforming well.
“It was an exciting match against Al Sadd, however we did not play well in the first half. Overall I didn’t notice much of a difference between us and Al Sadd.”
“Our players always want to give their best against the big teams in the league. Our problem is that we need to raise our game against teams that are around us in the league.
Yusef Adam’s Markhiya narrowly lost 1-0 to fellow promoted side Qatar SC, and will be hunting their first points of the season. Ghanian striker Kwame Karikari was the sides most dangerous player in the second half and the target man will be hoping he can influence the tie in favour of the Oryxes.
