Al Markhiya Gallery opens new art space with ‘Reflection’ exhibition

Al Markhiya Gallery marked the launch of its new art space with the exhibition entitled ‘Reflection’ that opened at the Fire Station-home to Artist in Residence.
The opening event was attended by the participating artists, leading figures in the local art scene and Qatar Museums officials and Qatari, Arab and foreign artists.
Running till November 18, the exhibition holds 23 artworks from various artists such as Hassan Al Mulla, Salman Al Malik, Ali Hassan, Faraj Daham, Mohammed Al Atiq, Wafika Sultan, Yousef Ahmed and some artwork from the late Jassim Zaini.
Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Museums (QM) Mansoor Al Mahmoud, Special Advisor to H E Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums, said embracing galleries such as Al Markhiya and those who own private art collection comes within Qatar Museums’ point of interest, since these galleries form an important branch in the cultural sector of Qatar, especially that Qatar is one of the important art capitals.
Al Mahmoud said Qatar holds a large number of national and foreign artists who require support to market their work and to be introduced to the standards of museum exhibiting, highlighting that Qatar Museums aims to prosper artists and private collectors to exhibit their collections in international museums.
