Doha: Qatar will host tomorrow the fourth General Assembly of Arab Union for Voluntary Work (AUVW), with the participation of representatives from 15 Arab countries, Arab League, Arab-African Youth Council, Ministry of Youth and Sports and Qatar Centre for Voluntary Activities.
Yousef Al Kazim, Secretary-General, AUVW, said the meeting will review an administrative and financial report,  activities, forums and conferences for the past four years.
He said elections of the Executive Office of AUVW will take place during the meeting, adding that there are four candidates — Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Sudan and Lebanon.
He said representatives of Arab League and Arab-African Youth Council will oversee the elections.
Al Kazim highlighted existence of a consensus among the majority of member states that AUVW Secretary-General office remains in Qatar, especially in view of the success achieved over the past four years.
He said the meeting will hold working sessions to develop voluntary work plans and perceptions for the new session from 2015-2019.
Arab Decade for Cultural Right
The Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage, in cooperation with Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), will host a meeting of the standing committee on Arab culture at Hilton Doha Hotel tomorrow to discuss the Arab Decade for Cultural Right.
Hamad Hamdan Al Mohannadi,  Director, Department of Heritage at the ministry and Qatar’s representative at the Committee of Arab Culture, said the meeting aims to develop perceptions and present Arab countries’ proposals to adopt Arab contract for cultural right.
He said the meeting is part of implementing a call by the 18th session of the conference of ministers responsible for cultural affairs in the Arab world held in Manama last November.
Al Mohannadi stressed that the 19th session of the conference in Riyadh in January 2015 called for developing a perception of the Arab Decade for Cultural Right to replace Arab Decade for Cultural Development 2005-2014.
