Kathmandu, Nepal: More than 2,400 people were still missing Friday missing and 584 were confirmed dead after flash floods and landslides hit the Nepal-Tibet border.
The figures are likely to continue changing, which is not uncommon in the chaos after a major disaster.
Here are the latest numbers:
In total: 2,482 missing
Nepal's disaster agency on Friday dramatically increased the total number of people missing on its side of the border to 1,924.
Chinese officials have not given updated figures Friday for the total number of missing in Tibet. On Thursday, they put the number at 558.
Together, the total missing Friday was therefore at least 2,482, a leap of more than 1,000 from a day earlier.
Nepal's disaster agency on Friday said that 517 foreigners -- which could include tourists as well as foreign workers -- were still missing.
Chinese officials on Thursday put the number of foreigners missing at 260.
Together, that means the total number of foreigners missing in the region was at least 777.
Nepal's tourism board on Friday put the number of tourists still "out of communication" at 622.
Of those, 473 were foreign tourists.
The tourism board also said 121 tourists had been rescued. The total number of rescued in the disaster, including residents and foreign workers in the region, was unclear.
Nepal's disaster agency said Friday that at least 579 people had been killed, while China reported five, for a total of at least 584.
