Doha, Qatar: The Supreme Judiciary Council (SJC) continues to expand its digital services with the launch of a new WhatsApp-based facility that allows lawyers to link registered court cases to their law firms.
Announced via the Council’s official X account, the service operates through the number 44597777. It enables an accredited lawyer to connect a previously registered case file in the courts system to the name of their authorised law office.
Once linked, the lawyer can manage the case digitally, view upcoming sessions and submitted memoranda, and file requests electronically on behalf of the client. The move forms part of the SJC’s broader drive to modernise judicial procedures and reduce reliance on paper-based processes.
The service builds on earlier digital initiatives introduced by the Council, including virtual assistant tools available on the same WhatsApp number. Those earlier services allowed litigants to submit memoranda, check case status, obtain judgment summaries and receive session details without visiting court premises.
By extending similar functionality to lawyers, the SJC aims to streamline case management for legal practitioners. Lawyers will be able to monitor multiple files, track developments and submit procedural requests more efficiently, potentially improving the overall pace of litigation and the quality of representation offered to clients.
The initiative aligns with the national programme to develop judicial systems, which has already delivered shorter case processing times, greater electronic integration with other government entities, and expanded online access to court services.
Officials have repeatedly stressed that digital transformation remains a priority to enhance accessibility, transparency and efficiency within Qatar’s justice sector.
Legal practitioners have welcomed the step. One lawyer noted that the facility would raise efficiency within law offices by enabling better oversight of hearings, requests and memoranda, while shortening the time and effort required for routine case administration.
The WhatsApp channel was selected because of its widespread use and simplicity. Users interact with the system through the registered mobile number linked to their national address, ensuring security and confidentiality standards are maintained.
The SJC has encouraged lawyers to utilise the new service as it continues to roll out further digital tools designed to support both legal professionals and the public. The Council’s ongoing efforts reflect a commitment to a modern, responsive judicial system that meets the needs of a digitally connected society while upholding the principles of fair and timely justice.
