Doha, Qatar: The Attorney General ordered investigation into the forgery of official documents and damage to public funds.
The Public Prosecution, in a statement on Tuesday, July 28, announced that it has begun investigating the case based on a report received from the Ministry of Interior against a defendant holding Qatari nationality.
Investigations have established that the defendant allegedly conspired with individuals outside Qatar to facilitate the issuance of forged medical leave certificates, falsely attributed to Hamad Medical Corporation, for several Qatari suspects, who then submitted the certificates to government entities to obtain leave.
"The investigations have also established that the defendant agreed with others outside the country to grant forged medical leave certificates to another group of defendants — including students at educational institutions and others working in various government entities — in exchange for a financial payment transferred to the defendant's account. These individuals used the certificates, despite knowing they were forged, submitting them to government entities to obtain leave they were not entitled to. Public Prosecution investigations are ongoing to complete the necessary legal procedures regarding the case," it said.
The Public Prosecution calls on all entities to verify the authenticity of medical leave certificates submitted to them, and to report any found to be invalid so that the necessary legal action can be taken.
