Qatar ‘keen on more ICT projects for disabled’

Geneva: Qatar has been carrying out programmes and projects to enable its people to use information and communication technology (ICT) through capacity-building programmes and raising digital awareness, particularly among those who lack information technology skills and tools such as people with disabilities and the elderly.
Ambassador Faisal bin Abdullah Al Henzab, Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, made the remarks as he addressed  World Summit on Information Society Forum 2015 which ends tomorrow.
He said Qatar has worked hard in the past decade to implement WSIS working plans under directives and supervision Minister of Information and Communications Technology H E Dr Hessa Sultan Al Jaber. He said Qatar has enhanced ICT infrastructure  by extending the optic fiber network, which is expected to reach 95 percent penetration by next year to provide Qatari households with broadband Internet at affordable prices. He said Qatar is working to ensure citizens’ security and privacy by establishing legal and regulative frameworks and educating them on how to reduce the risk of using ICT.


Honda motorcycle models recalled


Doha: The Ministry of Economy and Commerce has announced the recall of 2014 Honda NC700 and NC750 motorcycles due to a defect in the speedometre and fuel gauge, in collaboration with dealer DOMASCO.
It said the recall is part of its coordination and follow-up to ascertain the extent of dealerships’ commitment to follow up vehicles’ defects and repair them to protect consumers’ rights. It ministry stressed that it will coordinate with the dealership to follow up maintenance and repairs and communicate with customers to ensure implementation of procedures to fix defects.
