All, but one, of the 35 members of the Aquino Cabinet remained multimillionaire, with most of them becoming richer based on their 2014 Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net worth (SALN).
Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario remains the richest member of the Aquino Cabinet with P838 million in 2014, an increase by P73 million from his net worth of P765 million in 2013.
Education Secretary Armin Luistro, on the other hand, remains the poorest Cabinet member with net worth of P471,064, up from P433 million in his 2013 SALN.
Del Rosario’s wealth comprised mostly of investments in the stock market worth P732 million. The former Philippine ambassador to the United States has 12 real estate properties amounting to P75.5 million and cash on hand and bank deposits worth P15.1 million.
Luistro, the former president of De La Salle University, is the only non-millionaire in the Aquino Cabinet. He has no real estate property since his assets are all in cash and bank deposits.
The second richest member in the Aquino’s official family is Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima whose net worth rose to P298 million, from P278 million in 2013. The former businessman declared real estate properties worth P11.14 million, including a house in Ayala Alabang he acquired for P5 million in 1992. His personal properties reached P287.7 million, including jewelry and art collection amounting to P16.9 million.
Next on the millionaires’ club is Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez with net worth amounting to P283 million. He declared a net worth of P282 million in 2013.
