Ramallah: The Israeli army has decided to impose a full closure on the West Bank and border crossings with the Gaza Strip during the end of the Jewish holiday of Passover.
According to a statement by the Israeli police spokeswoman Luba Simari, the closure began at midnight and will be lifted on Saturday evening following a status evaluation.
The statement added that passage will only be allowed in humanitarian, medical and special cases after the approval of the Israeli coordinator of government activities in the Palestinian territories.
The Israeli authorities also decided to close the Kerem Abu Salem commercial crossing on Thursday because of the holidays with the exception of fuel, Nazmi Muhanna, General Director of the Palestinian Crossing and Borders Authority, said in a press release, adding the crossing will be reopened on Sunday.
