Doha: The seventh meeting of interior undersecretaries of GCC member states opened here yesterday.
The Director General of Public Security Major General Saad bin Jassim Al khulaifi welcomed the GCC interior undersecretaries and conveyed to them greetings of the Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani.
He said that the meeting stems from the collective responsibility against crime in its various forms and manifestations with the view of fighting it and preventing its spread to GCC communities, while taking into consideration the achievements that have been made, thanks to the efforts and cooperation among the GCC States.
Al Khulaifi confirmed that such successes would be a stepping stone towards greater achievements in the field of security “especially in the shadow of the current conditions in our region which made it incumbent on us to stand firm in face of them out of keenness on the gains of our peoples and homelands.”
He said “topics on the meeting’s agenda show our determination to continue pushing forward the security cooperation”.
He referred to the security implications of the current situation in Yemen on GCC states and the importance of examining the effects that could be produced and then making the appropriate recommendations to the face such implications.
He prayed Allah to have grace on the GCC martyrs for the duty of protecting their homelands.
Major General Al Khulaifi, meanwhile, thanked the Gulf Cooperation Council General Secretariat and all its staff for the fruitful efforts to prepare for this meeting, praying the Almighty Allah that the meeting would be a success.
